Weight loss simplified - Step 2 - Exercise

Step 2A - Changing your activities

You will lose weight if you burn more calories than you intake... plain and simple.  My favorite approach to this, is to play sports that I enjoy.  I love to play tennis, baseball and basketball, so I have no shortage of ambition when it comes to exercising.

Step 2B - Jump starting your metabolism

When you first wake up, do a few sit-ups, push ups, jumping jacks or a similar 2 minute workout.  This activity will perk you up and jump start your day.  You will be more energetic for the day.  Make sure to stretch first to avoid injury, and make the exercise light and easy*.  It doesn't have to be hard workout, you can decide when to to do the bulk of your exercise, but do get in the tradition of jump starting your day by stretching and doing a light exercise.

Step 2C - Avoid eating extra for your work-out

Do not make the mistake of thinking that you need to eat extra before a work out.  If you have extra pounds of body fat, you want this to be part of the fuel supply for your workout.  A common mistake is eating larger portions, and saying, "I worked for this, or my body needs this for the workout", as if it is your earned reward.  You do not want to put back all of the calories which you burned.  You want to maintain a regular and healthy eating pattern, independent of your workout.  Eat until you are full.  See our strategy on Eating for weight loss here.  In my opinion, Energy Drinks are for athletes who are pushing for added performance, not for weight loss related exercise.  Drinking plenty of water is for weight related exercisers.

Step 2D - Cut down on TV time, and other non-productive activities

TV has to be the idlest of entertainment activities.  Do something more physical or even productive.  Use the added time to help your spouse with something they are working on, like housework or yard work.  Any energy you put into these things are calories burned, and will also make you feel better about yourself, and will make you appreciated for offering to help.  For more free relationship tips and tricks, click here...  http://www.fundiscoveries.com/relationship-advice-articles/for-men-women-or-couples/index.htm
